HARARE: Younis Khan carried on from where he left off in the first Test as he played another solid innings for Pakistan on the second day of the second Test against Zimbabwe at Harare Sports Club on Wednesday. 
 
Younis followed up a match-winning double century in the first Test with an unbeaten 52 as Pakistan reached 163 for three at the close of play in reply to Zimbabwe's first innings total of 294. 
 
When he reached 50 for the 49th time in Test cricket Younis became the fourth Pakistan batsman to reach 7000 runs in Tests. 
 
Batsmen of both sides played cautiously on a slow pitch. Only five wickets fell in the day, while 222 runs were scored. 
 
As in the first Test, Younis batted patiently against steady bowling. With several prominent cracks in the pitch he stretched well forward to most deliveries, with bat and pad close together to combat any unpredictable bounce. 
 
Younis and fellow veteran Misbah-ul-Haq will resume on Thursday, after putting on 67 for the fourth wicket. They came together soon after tea when opening batsman Khurram Manzoor was run out for 51. 
 
Younis faced 127 balls and hit six fours, while Misbah made 27 not out off 88 deliveries. 
Manzoor, who was recalled for the Zimbabwe series after more than three years out of the Test team, survived confident appeals for a catch behind and leg before wicket early in his innings. 
 
He showed good timing as he hit nine fours in reaching his fourth Test half-century off 119 balls, but his innings came to an end when he played the ball to leg and set off for a run. He was sent back by Younis and could not beat Elton Chigumbura's throw to wicketkeeper Richmond Mutumbami. 
 
Pakistan endured a frustrating morning as their bowlers struggled to dislodge the Zimbabwe tail. 
Junaid Khan took his fourth wicket of the innings when Prosper Utseya hooked a short ball to deep backward square leg after making a stubborn 22 off 82 balls. Junaid finished the innings with four for 67. 
 
Tendai Chatara and Brian Vitori put on 46 for the last wicket before left-arm spinner Abdur Rehman ended Zimbabwe's resistance when he trapped Chatara leg before wicket for 21. Rehman took three for 47. 
 
Manzoor and Mohammad Hafeez put on 29 for Pakistan's first wicket before Hafeez was caught at first slip off left-arm opening bowler Vitori for 22 - his highest score in five Test matches in 2013. 
Azhar Ali made seven before he was leg before to Tinashe Panyangara.

HARARE: Hamilton Masakadza and Brendan Taylor shared a century partnership before Zimbabwe suffered a collapse on the first day of the second Test against Pakistan at Harare Sports Club on Tuesday. 
 
 
Zimbabwe were 237 for eight at the close of play. 
 
 
Masakadza (75) and Taylor (51) put on 110 for the third wicket but the rest of the batting crumbled on a pitch which had cracks that caused several deliveries to keep low. 
 
 
Masakadza's dismissal, caught at slip off a Saeed Ajmal 'doosra', was the first of six wickets that fell for 94 runs before the close of play. 
 
 
Masakadza and Taylor came together after Zimbabwe lost their first two wickets for 31 runs. 
 
Tina Mawoyo was caught behind off Junaid Khan without scoring off the second ball of the match after Taylor won the toss and decided to bat. 
 
 
Vusi Sibanda battled to 14 off 44 balls before dragging an attempted pull against Rahat Ali onto his stumps. 
 
 
Masakadza, who captained the team in the first Test when Taylor withdrew because of the birth of his first child, batted solidly as he reached a half-century off 98 balls, taking advantage of any loose deliveries to hit eight fours and a six. 
 
 
Taylor, by contrast, looked out of touch early in his innings and was given a torrid time by left-arm pace bowler Junaid. He scored only seven runs as the partnership became worth 50 but he played with more fluency to contribute 32 of the next 50. He faced 128 balls and hit six fours. 
 
 
Junaid was the pick of the Pakistan bowlers and was unlucky not to have a better return than his three for 55. Fellow left-arm opening bowler Rahat Ali took two for 48 and left-arm spinner Abdur Rehman two for 37. 
 
 
One of Rehman's victims was Elton Chigumbura, who was bowled by a delivery which barely rose off the turf after hitting a crack. 
 
 
Pakistan won the first Test by 221 runs. With the second and final match of the series being played at the same venue as part of a cost-cutting exercise by Zimbabwe Cricket, there was concern that pitch preparation might have been affected. 
 
 
There were only two non-playing days between Tests, and Taylor said at the toss that he did not want to bat last after having had a look at the pitch. (AFP)

HARARE: Younis Khan reached his double century with a six and Pakistan immediately declared its second innings on 419-9, a lead of 341 over Zimbabwe on day of the first test on Friday. 
 
Younis just made it to 200 not out before the planned declaration from captain Misbah -ul- Haq, leaving Zimbabwe way behind and just over three sessions to survive in the series opener. 
 
Younis hit 15 fours and three late sixes in his double hundred, and shared century partnerships with Misbah and Adnan Akmal (64) to lift Pakistan out of trouble after the tourists trailed by 78 runs following the first innings. 
 
 
Younis was almost solely responsible for the turnaround, facing 404 balls and taking Pakistan from 23-3 early in its second innings to a position of dominance. (AP)

ST LUCIA: In third One day International Match of the series between Pakistan and West Indies tied after interesting end. 
 
West Indies won the toss and choose to field first in third ODI of the series. Pakistani Openers Ahmad Shahzad and Nasir Jamshed start the match in very slow mode. First wicket down for Pakistan on 39 runs in 12 overs.  
 
Misbah Ul Haq Lead the team from front and made another Half century of the series. He made 75 runs with Good contribution of Umar Akmal and Haris Sohail, both made 40 and 26 respectively.  
 
Pakistan made 229 runs after 50 overs completion. Bravo and Holder tooks two wickets each.  
 
After start west Indies Innnings , Pakistan got early wickets of both openers, Charlis and Gayle. Lendle Simmons was the top scorer from the West Indies team , who also made 75 runs.  
 
In the last over of the innings, West Indies need 15 runs and last pair on the crease but Holder plays well and tied the match.

Indian Captain MS Dhoni won the toss and choose the field. Pakistan made one change Imran Farhat out and Asad Shafiq in side. 
 
Rain disturb the match , when Pakistan 57 for 3 in 11 overs. After match starts again, Match restricted for 40 overs. 
 
Asad Shafiq was top scorer from Pakistan , he made 41 runs, no other batsman made big contribution and long partnership. 
 
Umar Amin not out on 27 runs.

CANBERRA: The Australian government has introduced legislation to Parliament that could clear the way for Pakistani legspinner Fawad Ahmed to play for Australia in the forthcoming Ashes series against England starting July. 
 
The 31-year-old is a permanent resident of Australia after being accepted as a refugee, but needs to  be an Australian citizen to become eligible for selection to Australia's test team. 
 
Immigration Minister Brendan O'Connor introduced an amendment to citizenship law on Thursday that would give him discretion to make Ahmad a citizen. 
 
 All major political parties have already given in-principle support, meaning the bill will likely become law next week. (AP)

NEW DELHI: Indian batting great Sachin Tendulkar has announced his retirement from the the Indian Premier League (IPL), saying it was the ''right time'' to stop playing the Twenty 20 tournament. ''This is my last IPL. This has been a fantastic season, '' Tendulkdar said in a television interview after his team victory in the final on Sunday. 
 
Tendulkar is the world' leading scorer in both test and one-day cricket with an unprecedented 100 international centuries. 
 
He has figured in all six editions of the T20 competition. ''I think this is the right time to stop playing the IPL. I am 40. Got to accept it. This is the best point to say thank you very much to all the suuporters and well-wishers, '' he said. (AFP)
