KARACHI: The 61st death anniversary of Pakistan's first Prime Minister Liaquat Ali Khan is being observed today.
The members and office bearers of the Quaid-i-Millat Liaquat Ali Khan Memorial committee will visit the mausoleum to lay floral wreaths and offer Fateha.
A meeting would be organised later to pay hornage to Shaheed-i-Millat Khan Liaquat ali Khan.
On 16 October 1951, Liaquat Ali khan was assassinated during a public meeting of the Muslim city League at company Bagh (company Gardens), Rawalpindi.
Upon his death, he was given the honorific title of "Shaheed-e-Millat", or "Martyr of the Nation". He is buried at Mazar-e-Quaid in Karachi.
He was among the most trusted companions of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah and after his death, he was buried at Mazar-e-Quaid in Karachi.
